The Mudcats are named for the Carolina Mudcats, a Single-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Based in Zebulon, North Carolina, the Mudcats began as the Columbus Mudcats in Columbus, Georgia in 1969. In 1990, the team moved to Zebulon. The name “mudcat” is based on Southern slang for a catfish.
The Mudcats’ mascot is named Muddy the Mudcat, and it’s one of the more terrifying mascots in existence. Seriously, it’s pure nightmare fuel. Google it if you want to, but don’t say you weren’t warned.
The Mudcats can only be found at EYS in the Minor and Major leagues.
